We are delighted to have won the Most Innovative Highway Authority Scheme Of The Year Award at the Highways Awards 2018 for our work with the City of London.
Between 2014 and 2018 the City of London Corporation has transformed the Aldgate area to enhance safety for road users, improve cycling and pedestrian routes, introduce more greenery, create new public space for events, leisure and play and improve lighting in the area. Due to the nature of the city environment and the complexities of the scheme, one of the biggest issues faced was the presence of utilities and other features within the public highway.
Employing a combination of our own unique systems, we achieved huge cost savings for stakeholders, minimised disruption to road users and the local community as well as provided vital information to archaeologists to ensure successful completion of the project.
Craig Simmonds, MD Macleod Simmonds commented: “Winning the innovation category at this year’s Highways Awards tops off an incredible year for Macleod Simmonds! We are extremely proud of our achievements on this ground-breaking project, all of which could not have been happened without the support of the fantastic team from the City of London”.
Based in a complex high traffic London location, all information generated helped minimise unnecessary traffic delays, restrict noise levels and reduce overall delays all of which lessened the potential impact of the project on road users and the local community.
Working on projects for Transport for London, major UK Airports and Woking Borough Council, we are on the lookout for fresh talent to join our team as trainees in our new office based in Woking. For further information visit www.macleodsimmonds.com/careers/
